Our Halloween in photos

we didn't do very much for Halloween this year. Normally we throw a party, but for various reasons not this year :( I'm fighting an ear infection, and didn't feel like dresing up! We decorated the house and our woods yesterday, and the girls got all dressed up! After the kiddos had gone to bed last night, the Mr and I hid some sweets and halloween party favours down the woods so they had a scavenger hunt this morning followed by pumpkin carving!

We met up with some friends this afternoon at a playbarn for a couple of hours. They've had a fun time - and that's all that counts ;) I'm ready for bed - this infection is taking it out of me.

Hope you've all had a fun Halloween weekend :)

Saturday Sun

My mum's been here visiting for the last few days, we hadn't seen her for 3 months, so it was nice to catch up! And she came laden with american goodies for us - lots and lots of peanut butter cups mainly!! They are Miss Baya's favourties and we'd run out so she was very excited to see her Gramsie ;)

The kiddos have kept her busy reading books and playing games. On Thursday we all went to an Arty Picnic at the local art gallery. They'd laid out a few different halloween themed crafts to do, the girls had a great time, making hats and ghosts and monsters.

Friday we took my Mum to our Home ed group, in between all the kiddos running around and climbing trees, we had  the paints out - I came home with a gigantic pile of pictures!

Today she has to go home :( We're off for a walk to the playground this morning, then home for homemade quiche for lunch before we take her to the train station.

And then I guess I best get caught up on laundry and housework ;) Tomorrow we're planning on decortiong the house and woods for halloween.

I listed a couple of new bags in my Etsy this week, more to come when I get 5 spare minutes.

What do you have planned for the weekend??

life...

the last couple of weeks have been never ending. we seem to have been rushing from one thing to the next. I'm in serious need of some rest and relaxation! Lola and her daddy had tickets to watch a Narnia movie at hte cinema this morning (free, as part of National Films for Schools Week) and the little two were meant to have an art workshop. That was cancelled at the last minute, so we did some painting and baking at home instead.

G's Nain and Taid (Welsh for Grandma and Grandad!) came at lunchtime for the afternoon. It's been a while since we saw them, and they came ladden with gifts for the girlies!!!

We made quiches for lunch, and a scrummy lemon sponge for afters :) They've just left now, and the girls are curled up watching snow white, while I try and do some jobs (and keep my eyes open!)

I feel a walk is in order soon - I need some fresh air, else I'll be asleep well before their bedtime, I'm one exhasuted mama. I can never get to sleep at night very easily, and with Miss Baya still needing me in the night, I never feel totally rested. I'd kill for an uninterrupted nights sleep ;)

Tonight, I'm watching 'The Other Bolyen Girl' then hoping for some good zzzzz's!!! We've the last of our free films to watch tomorrow - Cars 2 - home ed has some very good benefits!!! We rarely go to the cinema as it's so darn expensive, so 4 films in a week is a treat lol

lemon sponge cake, with homemade apple and blackberry jam (courtsey of my daddy!)
quiches :)
sun trying to peep out!
dressing up fun
Baya decided to 'decorate' Mr Bear when he was asleep in a box ;)

What they wore... off to the disco!

Lola wore:
dress & leggings - primark
cardigan - thrifted

Kiki wore:
dress - handed down from her cousins :)

Baya wore:
dress - Marks & Spencers
Leggings - thrifted

if you ask Lola what her favourite thing about her holiday was - she'll tell you it was the kiddos disco! we went every night!! the first night she was a little shy, but after twenty minutes she was away - she didn't want to leave when it was over.

she absolutely LOVED it - i can see her turning into a party animal in a few years lol Little Miss Baya wasn't so keen, until the last night when she decided she like it too :/

apple festival

yesterday was the annual apple festival up at our local national trust property Erddig. we woke to rain, after a week of a heat wave, but luckily by mid-morning the rain cleared. we me up with some friends, for one of the best afternoons I've had in ages :) there was some cider sampling..(a few of them were a little worse for wear by the end of the afternoon ;) )

the girls were so excited to be able to hold a couple of owls, i could happily have smuggled them home in my handbag! they were so cute... and Lola who's just getting into Harry Potter wants an owl so she can call it Hedwig lol

i think we were just about the last visitors to leave - we had that much fun! we ended up bringing friends home and having an impromptu barbecue - perfect end to a fantastic afternoon - can't wait for next years apple festival!

Saturday Sun (image heavy)

I can't believe we've been back from holiday for a whole week :/ we've struggled to get back into any sort of routine this week, I think we're all still tired, and it's hard to get up and moving in a morning!

we've been blessed with some fantastic weather this week... after a pretty lousy summer, this mini heat wave is bliss. we spent yesterday doing some gardening, getting it tidy ready for the winter, putting a new net on the trampline, eating al fresco and just having some fun family time in the sun.

also, can you believe it's october already??! this year is flying by way too fast. tomorrow it is the apple festival at our local national trust house.. my fingers are crossed this weather will stay put for the weekend, so we can relax with a picnic and enjoy some of the locally made cider that's on sale at the festival :)

here are a few more of my holiday snaps :)
