rainy days >>>>

we woke up to grey skies and lots of rain. instead of letting it put a dampner on things we wrapped up and went out for a puddle splashing session. embraced the rain and gave thanks for it :)

home to warm up with hot chocolates and a little peppa pig splashing in muddy puddles too, before we began homeschool. miss baya is loving her new peppa pig toy too {and she's mighty appropriate today seeing as she's a puddle jumping, mud covered piggy}. toy peppa joined in with the puddle jumping fun - she counts and bounces up and down ;)

i'm hoping the rain eases off before we have to walk lola to netball this evening - sometimes being car free has it's downfalls ha!

i love instagram! if you follow me there you might have guessed :p i love taking photos of the little details that make up our lives. i finally got around to ordering a book from blurb yesterday, putting together some of my favourite photos from the last year on instagram {it was mighty hard picking 80 or so photos from over 1300)!} i cannot wait for it to arrive, i'm so stoked to be able to sit and flick through some photos instead of looking at them on a phone screen.

blurb make it easy to put together any kind of book you like, you can import directly from instagram {or facebook, flickr, photobucket, etc} you can pick your layout, add text pages, text to photos - completely customise it. i picked a simple, clean layout, just photos - this is going to be something that i treasure for ever.

while i was at it, i also put together some mini photo books to gift our families at christmas - easy, personalised gifts that i know the grandparents will treasure. and it ticks a few boxes of my christmas list - i seem to be a little unorganised this year!

i seem to have a slight obsession with collecting doilies... i can't pass them up if i see them when i'm thrifting! i wanted needed a new curtain for our dining room window. having just decluttered and given the house a 'makeover' i felt like a change from the lacey curtain that i had up. the window looks out over a car park, not the prettiest view, so i like to have something there to distract from it a little!

one crafty sunday afternoon, a length of ribbon and a selection of doilies/lace and voila! a pretty new curtain.

operation christmas child >>>

christmas is coming. it's in our faces in every shop we see. encouraging us to spend our money, telling us we need to buy this. we're lucky, my kiddos wake up on christmas morning to huge piles of gifts courtesy of santa. they have a home, clothes, more toys than they need. they do not have to wonder when they will eat next. unfortunately not everyone is as lucky as we are. there are thousands of under-privileged children around the world who won't be waking up to a mountain of gifts on christmas morning, who don't have the love and security mine do, who don't have toys, or food, or basic provisions.

operation christmas child is the world's largest children's christmas project, run by the christian charity samaritan's purse. We have been sending gift-filled shoeboxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy and into the lives of over 94 million underprivileged children. contrary to what some believe, they do not place christian materials in the boxes, or expect the children to go to church, or believe anything. They give unconditionally to children who are badly in need. you can read their truth statement here

filling a shoebox for a child in need has become a tradition of ours each christmas time. it allows us to give a little back, and helps the girls to understand a little of the world, and a little of how lucky they are. we've been carefully choosing some gifts today, a teddy, yoyo, flannel, soap, toothbrush + toothpaste, a colouring book and some crayons, a hat and gloves, a puzzle and some sweets. the girls spent a long time picking out just the right things. hopefully this box will put a smile on a little girls face! you can find out how to take part here or create a box online here

goodbye red! i finally got around to changing up my hair! i opted for a turquoise, it came out a little bluer, but i'm loving it. three + a half years of red was enough - it was time for a change. what do you think?? i also am loving this straight hair. my hair is naturally wavy, and generally i am too lazy don't have time to straighten it. i normally just leave it to air dry. however, i got sent this new hair tool, an instyler to try out. it worked amazingly. i have a flat iron, but it seems to take an age to straighten my hair out with it. this, well, it took minutes. it has a brush attached, as well as a rotating barrel. you can use it to make curls also - i'll be giving that a go soon ;) you can find out more about it here

it's amazing how a new 'do can make you feel rejuvenated. my kiddos loved it too - they just want to play hairdressers now! what do you think of my new do??

thank goodness it's saturday! i'm forcing myself to take some time off this weekend, it's been a crazy busy week and i'm in need of some downtime. i'm spending this morning on the phone to technical support as i'm having issues with my iphone :/ sad face i'm lost without my phone!!

the sun is shining, so i think we'll get out for a hike today or tomorrow, enjoy some fresh air and some peace. the kiddos and i are planning a movie night tonight - not sure what we're watching yet, but i'm looking forward to it!

since we came back from our holiday, the temperature suddenly seems to have dropped. it is fuh-reezing!! beautiful, sunny and colourful, but bloody cold ;) lots of layers are needed, as are cozy slippers. i have raynauds syndrome and usually spend the winter with numb feet, this year i'm determined to ward off the chilblains.

i finally got around to re-doing the black in my hair - now i just need to purchase bleach + dye for the ends. i'm thinking turquoise for a change. 

this pretty dress arrived from oasap.com while i was away. it's gorgeous and floaty, and teemed with a few layers shall get plenty of wear through the winter.

i've been a busy bee this week catching up on laundry, bloggy stuff, emails, orders and general life. i'm hosting a couple of open days soon - if you're local to wrexham then i'd love to see you! i'm opening up my house and showing off my jewelry so you can see it and buy it in person :) more info here and here. i've been working hard getting lots of stock made up ready! some of the new rings got listed in the shop this week - grab them now while you can {and there is free shipping on everything this week!}
