Chocolate covered candy canes

We made these last weekend. Lola and Kiki wanted to take some gifts to give to their friends at their Brownie and Rainbow groups before they break up for the Christmas holidays. I needed something that was fairly quick, that we could make lots of and didn't cost too much!

So we grabbed a bag of candy canes, dipped the ends in melted chocolate, then decorated them with an assortment of sprinkles, coloured sugar and melted pink chocolate. Grouped in sets of three, tied with a christmas ribbon they make a cute gift! {we put each set in a cellophane bag and tied that with a ribbon ready to hand out!!}

They're a perfect last minute gift to make too

Thankfully there were a few extras.... we had to make sure they tasted good, right?!

Dreaming BIG

undefined

You might remember the review and giveaway I posted a couple of weeks ago for the 2012 Creating Your Goddess Year Workbook and Planner. Since then I've been working my way through it, realsing the present year that is now coming to an end and starting to dream big for next year. This is one of my favourite activites as the year draws to an end. This year particuarly it is really inspiring me, I was full of plans to make 2012 my best year ever and this is just the tool I need to helpe me focus on what I want to achieve.

If you are looking for some guideance in dreaming big, this planner is for you - here's some of what you get inside:
  • A monthly calendar
  • A look at the year past
  • Creating affirmations for your new year
  • Creating a list of things to do when everything sucks
  • Art therapy techniques to help you work out what works in your schedule & what doesn’t
  • Creative projects to help you dream bigger
  • Deciding on a powerful theme for your year
  • Making new year habits that sustain, nourish & inspire you
  • Making goals in every part of your life
  • How to make those goals actually happen & make your big dreams become true.

One of my favourite parts of the planner is the '100 things to do in 2012' section - I love dreaming up fun, silly, creative, big or whimsical things to put in here {and I've had some great input from my twitter and facebook friends too!} Here's the first page of mine:

p.s SORRY for my terrible writing :/
if you have any suggestions to add please leave me a comment!

This year I've also gone one step further - I've joined the Goddess Circle - a sacred circle of women online, helping each other to be the goddess you truly are. In Goddess Leonie's words:

The Goddess Circle is more than a virtual women’s group — it gives you access to every product, program, guidebook and e-course I’ve ever created. My life’s work. Delivered to you. With love & luminous blessings for the adventure of (your) lifetime.
As a Goddess sister in the Circle, you’ll receive audio meditations to soothe your soul. Illustrated workbooks to create clarity & intention around difficult decisions. Cleanses to bring your body into health & radiance. Everything you need to live, work, play & create like the Goddess you’re becoming.
I have been thinking about this step for a while, and right now it feels like the right thing to do. I am so excited to start on this new journey for a fantastic 2012.

Guest Post: Raspberry & Blueberry Pie

Hello Enchanted Pixie readers! I'm Michelle and I blog over at The Momma Bird. I write about life, parenting toddlers, being a military spouse, traveling Europe, and most recently I started up a little vlog to keep the mood nice and light.

When Polly asked me to guest post for her I was so excited! It's not very often you come across Brit bloggers. So I'm very happy that she asked me. You see, I'm an American living in England. My husband is military so we're here for a few years. Can I just say that I absolutely adore England?! :) Well, I won't keep you. Here is a yummy recipe for you to drool over.

I am a 20-something freelance graphic designer in Austin, Texas, having fun exploring the world of screenprinting. I love books, dragons, sweet tea, pretty things, old movies, writing, my boyfriend and my puppy, shopping, learning how to cook better, and making things. I just discovered screenprinting this year and started Dragonflight Apparel in May, so it is very much still a growing work in progress. Each screen is hand-painted, and each shirt hand-printed. Every shirt is a unique combination of colors and design; I try not to make the same shirt twice. I blog about my ongoing screenprinting adventures, and anything else that catches my fancy (generally along the lines of fashion as I see it, cooking, photos, etc.). Check by often to see what's new!

I'll admit that i've become a bit of a scrooge lately when it comes to Christmas but I really enjoy the food/eating at this time of year, particularly the array of special edition items that various brands bring out over the festive period. The thing i'm most looking forward to trying this year is J2O Glitterberry - it has real edible glitter in it (!) which i'm stupidly excited about.

Guest Post: Marilyn's Coquito Recipe

{when I asked my sponsors for their favourite thing about Christmas, Maryiln from Pulp Sushi got back to me with this delicious sounding recipe!! I can't wait to try it out}

Being Puerto Rican, my father always made Coquito at Christmas time. It's considered the Puerto Rican Eggnog but with Rum, a nice healthy dosage of rum. I don't drink alcohol but I do indulge myself a little for some Coquito. :)

Here's a quickie recipe
  • 2 15-ounce cans cream of coconut
  • 2 14-ounce cans condensed milk
  • 6 ounces white rum (use less if you like)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon coconut (or vanilla) extract
Mix it all in a blender and refrigerate for about an hour. This is a beverage to enjoy nice and cold, don't worry, the rum will warm you up. :)

Drink and be merry

It's getting pretty chilly here now  - here are 4 of my favourite alcoholic hot drinks for this time of year. They're the best way to warm up - hands and belly ;)

Hot Chocolate with Baileys
I love Bailey's Irish Cream... add a {generous} splash to a mug of hot chocolate and I'm in heaven!

Hot Cinnamon Cider
It doesn't get better than this! Here's the recipe I use:

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1tsp allspice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
  •   1 ltr cider
Place everything into a large saucepan, and heat for 20 mins over a low heat. If you're having a party, or just want to keep some warm all evening, transfer it into a slow cooker on low.

Irish Coffee
add a shot of whiskey and a little sugar to black coffee, top with a squirt of cream

Hot Buttered Rum
add a small knob of butter, 1 tsp sugar, a little cinnamon, a dash of vanilla extract and a shot of rum to each mug then top up with hot water.

We saw Santa!!

we took the kiddos to have tea with Father Christmas this afternoon at our local museum. they've been so excited all day to see him!

we had such a fun time, Andy {Father Christmas' storyteller} kept us all entertained with some fun stories, songs and magic tricks, the kiddos got a some dinner, and us grown-ups got coffee and cakes - perfect!

I think though the best for the girls was going up to see Father Christmas, tell him what they would like for Christmast this year, and getting a little gift - Baya literally bounced the whole time ;)

Miss Lola is off to see Jack and the Beanstalk in an hour with her Brownies, I think Kiki, Baya and I will snuggle up and watch a movie while we wait to go pick her up.

we're having a christmas party here tomorrow - open house for all our friends to drop in - should be a blast!! we've got lots to prepare tomorrow, and then over the weekend we're planning on going to the Christmas Market :)

I'm loving this festive season so far - one of the best ever.

p.s don't forget to enter the Sponsor Giveaway for your chance to win 5 prizes!!!
