I've
been working hard the last few months at overcoming my fears and
following my dreams. So I'm running a series of interview with inspiring
people to see what part fear has played in their life and how they've
overcome it to live life their way...

Hey! Tell us a little about yourself.I’m your not-so-average
30-something gal living with my DH (a.k.a. Mr. Wonderful) & 2 super spoiled
pups. I’m a craftaholic that more often than not lets perfectionism get the
best of me & my WIPs. When I’m not working on some creative project, you
more than likely can find me on the computer either
blogging about anything creative or playing some video games with Mr. Wonderful.
I’m
currently working my 8-5 zombie desk job, but I have dreams of making a living
with my creativity. Right now it’s just a dream, but I’m taking baby steps to
make it reality.
Is the life you lead now the life you’ve always
dreamt of?Not really, but I’ve finally started to take baby steps
towards my dreams.
As a little girl, I used to dream about being a
model/actress/singer & all the fabulous things I would do for my family. As
I got older I knew that those dreams were a little far-fetched, so I settled for
the dreams of just doing whatever I loved. Since I am interested in so many
different things (always have been), it wasn’t until recently that I narrowed
down what that thing I love was...making things. I’m still working a zombie job
right now that has more downs than ups, but now that I know what I want to do I
can finally work towards doing just that.
While it’s not the life I’ve
always dreamt of, I wouldn’t really trade it for anything else.
When
you have faced difficulties, what has been your inspiration to keep
going?I know this is going to sound a little cheesy & more like
a pageant answer than anything else, but it’s my family.
When things
don’t seem to be going my way or I get a little discouraged, my family is always
assuring me that I can do whatever it is. Not only that, but they are always
encouraging me to do whatever I love & enjoy. Even though I haven’t done it
yet, it’s not because they aren’t inspiring me...it’s because I’m not a big risk
taker when it comes to things financially. Not only are they encouraging me,
but they are examples as well.
My dad has always done his own thing
& is usually very happy with his work. He’s done a little bit of
everything, but the most memorable are being a movie critic & self-published
author. My mom is a little more like me, she has a zombie job but on weekends
(especially during the fall) she’s living her dream. My parents have booths at
craft fairs all over the state, selling her amazing handmade goods & my
dad’s books.
Watching them as I grew up is exactly the inspiration that
I needed, but it took me this long to figure it all out. Oh well, better late
than never!
Fear affects us all at some point. What part has fear
played in your life and how have you overcome it?I’m a big
scaredy-cat when it comes to lots of things, but I try not to dwell on them all
the time. One fear that I can’t seem to shake is the fear of taking a huge risk,
like moving away from the only town I’ve lived in or quitting zombie life to
work for myself. I haven’t overcome them completely, but I am now starting to
take baby steps towards both of those fears. I’ve found that when you take baby
steps, it makes it not quite as scary & a lot more
manageable.
What advice would you offer on following your heart and
living your dreams? No matter what, you should always work towards
your dreams! Some people get there faster & love taking risks, others might
take years to get there...but no one ever regrets living their dream. The only
regrets are when you don’t even try.
What do you think are the three
most important things you need to lead a happy and radiant life?1. A
dream
2. Love, not necessarily the romantic kind
3. To be true to
the real you
