Sunday morning we woke up to glorious blue skies and blazing sunshine. Excatly what the doctor ordered after a couple of weeks of wet and greyness. The girls and I spent Sunday afternoon at a friends house, then met up with the hubby at some other friends house for a BBQ.
Yesterday the heat wave was still in full swing, and it G was off work. So, we decided to pack up a picnic and head off to the river. We went to a local country park which has a great river for the kiddos - not too deep or fast. We spent most of the day there, and most of the time in the river as it was way too hot to sit in the sun - the freezing cold water was bliss :)
Baya wasn't too sure about putting her toes in the water though - she was content to sit in the shade and dig stones up! We were joined in the water by a family of incredibly friendly ducks - they swam right around our feet which the girls thought was great. When it was time to leave, we walked back up to where they have some animals. Lola made friends with a cute rabbit named Jill (there was a Jack too!) and Kiki found a friendly guinea pig named Captain Jack. And there also was a giant French Lop bunny - he was HUGE!
We stopped for ice-lollies on the way home too, then ate dinner on the sofa and wached 'The Ugly Duckling & Me' before we all had an early nigh - I was asleep before 10pm!!!!
Here's some pictures from our day:
Looks so lovely, it was a hot weekend for us also. About time for some nice weather or what :) the girlys look so cute and happy.

ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! I love your hubby's tattoo of your name - so sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the guinea pig makes me miss mine, especially dear old Rufus. They really can be such sweet creatures, full of personality. And that bunny is just too adorable for words!
I can still remember how much I loved the long summer days spent playing by the river as a kid - I'm sure yours will remember these days just as clearly - looks wonderful! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful family! And you are too cute in the water with your hot pink hair!
