I’m a 35 year old mama to four wonderful daughters aged between 5 and 14, striving for a healthier, happier, greener life. I enjoy rambling through woods, baking, growing my own veg and generally being creative and free. It hasn’t always been like this. For years I had very low self esteem and no way of nurturing the creative self, but after an emotional trauma five years ago caused me to stand back and re-evaluate my life things began to change. I opened an Etsy store a couple of years ago but back then I still lacked the self belief needed to keep it going and it ground to a halt. More emotional challenges at the beginning of this year acted as the final catalyst and in August I set up The Crafty Bohemian website, born out of an ever increasing need to express the creativity and freedom of spirit that has been locked up inside for years. Setting up my own website and filling it with my own creations has been a really positive experience.
I love to use natural and ethical materials to make the things I sell. This means I use anything from re-purposed clothing found in charity shops to fairly traded organic fabrics, reclaimed buttons, ribbons and trims and natural materials such as wool stuffing and 100% wool felt wherever possible. All the cards I make are made using recycled card blanks and envelopes and packaged in biodegradable corn starch bags. The more ethical and eco-friendly an item is the bigger the buzz I get out of making it. I’ve had great fun gathering fabrics to make the recycled bunting for Pixie Mama’s giveaway!
Talie is offering one lucky person the chance to win this beautiful handmade recycled bunting:
