Hey there! Tell us a little about yourself and your shop
My name is Georgia and I live in south west France. I have also lived in the USA, Florida and Thailand but I am originally from the UK. I grew up in Wales in the countryside and it has give me a lifelong passion for colour and beauty in nature. I have been married to my best friend for the last 21 years and have two wonderful daughters of 17 and 19 who both have etsy shops too! I have been a photographer for 4 years and am self taught.
What is your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from many sources but mainly it is colour that I see first. My husband and children are my inspiration too as they have always supported me and encouraged me.
Have you always wanted to have a creative career?
Yes. I was brought up without a TV and with a very creative mother. We were always making things or collecting things on country walks. I can't remember a time in my life when I haven't been creative.
Describe a typical day in your life
My day begins with my husband bringing me a cup of tea. Unless I am going out I generally drink it in bed while checking my emails and sales (I am not a very good morning person!). Once that is done I either spend a couple of hours editing and listing or go out for a few hours to photograph something I have spotted.
I do volunteer work also so often have arranged to meet a friend and spend a 2-3 hours doing that. My husband is usually home in the day so we have a quick sandwich for lunch either at our desks (if we are busy) or out on our sunny terrace often accompanied by a glass of wine, French style!
The afternoon is usually spent doing something in the house, shopping for dinner or sewing as I am busy making curtains and the like for the winter. I also help my daughters out with their etsy businesses which involves lots of sewing. If we have orders to post out we need to remember to do it before 3.30pm as our village post office closes then. It has also taken us quite a while to get used to the fact that everything closes for at least two hours at lunch time!
Dinner is usually eaten around 7.30pm around our kitchen table as a family and is cooked either by myself or my eldest daughter. On a Thursday my youngest daughter cooks (which is always entertaining!).
After dinner and a last check of my emails (!!) we either sit down to watch something, usually comedy, or I curl up in bed with a book.
What are you currently obsessed with?
French architecture, particularly brightly coloured doors and window shutters. The autumn colours here are very inspiring too at the moment and although I don't like winter I know that it will have it's own beauty for me to capture.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Pretty much where I am now except with more sales so therefore more money!! Our goal is to spend 3-4 months every year back in Thailand doing volunteer work. I see myself the owner of a successful blog (something I am working on at the minute). In the spring we are opening a shop (next to our house) here in our village to sell furniture that my husband restores, our art and other creations so I see that being a great success.
