Re-organization

Although I'm still sick and supposed to be taking it easy (!) I spent some of yesterday doing some more re-organizing of my house. It's quite a little house, especially with 5 people living in it. I love it very much, it has bags of character, plus a lovely little garden with our own private woods at the bottom. Still, I think our little family is outgrowing it. Lola at nearly 8 is desperate to have a bedroom of her own. We only have 2 bedrooms, and the baby is still in with us. I'm trying to get my head around the idea of moving house (again) plus trying to decide if this town is where we want to stay.

Ideally I'd love to move to the South of England, Devon or Cornwall would be great! Just have to get my husband round to my way of thinking (as well as finding some pennies to finance a move).

Anyhoos - back to what I'd planned to write! I'm trying to do some reorganizing and tidying. I bought a new shelving unit for the living room, mainly to store some of my fabric stash on. I sent G off to buy one the same (or so I thought) as one we already have. But after I'd made it I discovered it was actually 3 inches wider than the other and so didn't fit right into the nook I'd planned on putting it in!

fabric storage
it's hard to see, but this was supposed to be the other way round, right in the corner!
But still - the new shelf's freed up a table that was just right for housing my sewing machine, so now I have a (little) corner for my sewing machine to live. No more having to get it out and put it away every time I want to use it!! Hopefully that will help my goal of doing something creative every day! I'm itching to get sewing now!

tucked in a corner by the fridge freezer!

Plus in the cupboard under the stairs, I found a couple of gems that were left here from previous tenants (mine now!)

There's another old sewing machine under there too, but it was buried in junk and I couldn't get to it today!

funky painting was hiding under the stairs too!

  1. Woah at the Singer! I wish I could find something that awesome left in my house. Your current house sounds lovely! Southwest England is a wonderful part of the country though, the landscape there really is stunning.

  3. Gosh...doesn't it feel good to get things in order? I just did my tiny little craft space not too long ago and it's so much better. I have only been reading your blog for a bit but I really like it, and I gave you a shout out on my blog today. :)
