bits + pieces // lolas birthday

miss lola's ninth birthday celebrations were spread out over two days. as her actual birthday fell on a tuesday, she decided to have her party on the saturday so her friends who go to school could come :)

her actual birthday we hopped on the train to chester, we did a little shopping {paperchase & lush!!!} and walked around the old roman city walls.we also took a walk down by the river and fed some ducks and a friendly swan.

she had 13 friends rounds for her party - i was a little concerned on saturday morning at what i had let myself in for! i needn't have worried, as it went without a hitch.. the girls all had a great time, we had a pinata, played pin the tail on the donkey and planted sunflower seeds for the kiddos to take home. they ate lots of party food and bbq provided by the mr and no-one wanted to go home ;)

Party Weekend

Monday Monday - and it's a beautiful sunny one too! Hope you all had a great weekend? I had a nice long sleep last night, and feel a little more human today! I stayed up late sewing on Thursday, then my niece came up from London on friday night ready for my birthday party, so we stayed up late again talking and watching old 'Friends'. Add to that a few glasses of wine, a party, another late night and the clocks going forward - and yesterday I felt about 100!!!

But my party - oh it was such fun! It was a great evening, catching up with friends and having a good time. The girls had a few of their friends there, and had a blast - actually I think they had more fun than the grown ups! I was naughty and opened a few presents, but saved the rest until tomorrow! I'll share pictures of them all after tomorrow.

Yesterday was spent lazing around and waiting to go back to bed - I haven't been that tired in ages - and eating lots of cakes. We bought red velvet cupcakes and some chocolate whoopie pies and they were delicious.

Now I've got a ton of jobs to catch up on today - then it's birthday day tomorrow!!!! And I'd best put the finishing touches to my '30 things' list as well! I'll be back later on with a 'Living Life Your Way Interview' and another great Birthday (Party) Guest Post. So for now I'll leave you with some photos from Saturday night!

P.S Don't forget today is the last chance to enter my Birthday Giveaway - I will be picking 4 winners tomorrow :)

parties, fun and one to cross of the list!

Number 21 on my list of 29 things to do before I'm 30 was to have more parties! There was a time when we'd have people round several times a week... while I don't want to go back to those days I do miss having folk around. The last years been a tough one, and I've isolated myself somewhat.

It was our 8th wedding anniversary at the end of August, we decided to have a bbq party. We had around 40/50 people in the garden, and had  a fantastic time! It was great to catch up with people I hadn't seen for a while, and remind myself of all the lovely friends we have.

After having had so much fun, we decided to have another (smaller) bbq this weekend. A couple of friends hadn't been able to make the last one, and we're trying to make the most of the nice weather before winter sets in! It was a tamer affair this time, and we didn't sit up half the night... but I had a fantastic time again.

I'll definetaly be throwing more parties very soon! In fact.... I'm thinking of throwing a big fancy dress party for my 30th next March.. I can hardly wait!
