ramblings >>>>

phew.i don't know about you, but the past couple of weeks has been cuh-razy! all this holiday madness through me a little. we had an absolute blast and enjoyed every second. now though, i'm so ready for a new year and all the fresh promises it holds.

i've spent the past three days cleaning, tidying and decluttering my house - we got rid of 5 bin bags full of rubbish and 10 bin bags full of stuff we don't need that will be donated! it feels so good :)

friday was an emotional day for me - the last full moon of the year was in cancer, it contained some strong energy for transformation and healing. for me, personally, it really dredged up old feelings and wounds, especially those connected to family and my roots. lots of old thoughts and beliefs came back to the surface - this moon gave me the perfect chance to journal through them. i'm so ready to move past them once and for all - i've done a lot of work and grown so much in the past year. 2012 truly was a year of transformation for me. i felt incredibly connected to the sacred feminine, sat staring at the beautiful moon {and freezing a little while i did!} it left me feeling that i'd finally put my past to bed. now i'm open and ready for the start of a new path. a lot of fantastic opportunities have presented themselves to me for the coming year and i'm so excited to delve right in.

this quote really jumped out at me

Another piece to the Full Moon in Cancer is that people have a tendency to live on auto-pilot tend to carry forward sticky emotional guilt, painful memories, family curses, intense bitterness within the ancestral lineage without even questioning anything. And at times this plays it out in their personal lives or with situations in present time. The old story repeats in a loop like a memory.
i've been working through the chakra cupboard with laura elizabeth - learning to use my cupboards to nourish, heal and grow. food has always been an issue for me. i was anorexic in my teen years, and even before that food held such emotional ties. the past few years i've worked hard to overcome all of that, and this course is backing all of my work up.

i treated myself to this astrology birthchart this week too! i'm excited to get it and read through :) it feels so long since i've blogged properly - i see a few changes in this blog in the weeks/months ahead. as i head down a new path, it's only right that my blog does too. i'm taking off myself the pressure, the 'need' to blog every day. i might, i might not. i'm aiming for quality over quantity ;)

loves,
Polly

i hope you all had a good christmas! we had a fantastic one. it's been crazy and i am exhausted but we've had such fun and made some memories. santa was very good to us - the kiddos scored some fab gifts, absolutely piles of stuff! miss lola loved her iron maiden cd + t-shirt and her new bike best of all! kiki boo got the doll pram she'd been drooling over as well as a big hula hoop and little miss baya got a new bike too! here's just a few snapshots of some of their goodies:

santa didn't forget mama either, i got some new vinyl, some fantastic books, the best owl mug ever, as well as some chocolates, smellies, new undies and a pile of other stuff.

day tripping >>>>

we took a last minute trip to liverpool yesterday. we'd planned to go tomorrow, but the mr found out yesterday he had a new job starting today! liverpool is our nearest big city, and we usually try and go to see the christmas lights. we headed down to the docks first, had a wander around a couple of museums, then took a walk through the city centre.

the lights were beautiful. baya especially was crazily excited, she's really getting the whole build up to christmas this year. there were lots of market stalls along the streets, many selling some gorgeous morrocan goods - i could have bought the lot ha! i did treat myself to a savoury moroccan pancake - SO good.

today we're catching up on some housework, heading to the library and making some stained glass cookies for the tree ♥♥♥

chucks >>>>

finally! we have our chickens :) after a long wait, we picked them up on saturday. we opted to re-home some ex-battery hens, give them a new life and a loving home {unless they are re-homed they send the chickens they no longer want to slaughter}. six girls are settling into their new home, they're all a little bald but a couple of weeks and they'll be lovely and feathery again. they seem happy in the house that my mr built in the summer. we have a temporary run for them, while they adjust to their new found freedom - once they've settled in they will have the run of our woods.

the kiddos are super excited - they've spent a lot of time watching them all, and seem to know which is which, something i've yet to master. their names are: belinda, betty, lily, jezebel, junebug and ju ju bee :) we've had four eggs already. the cats are still a little unsure as what to make of these newcomers.

we're slowly turning into a petting zoo - three cats, three guinea pigs and now six chickens..... i'm thinking ducks or a goat next :p

by the sea >>>>

wednesday we snatched a couple of hours by the sea. there's something magical about her powers. soothing and calming, she centres me and makes me feel whole. i long to live close to her, to wake to her beauty and fall asleep to her soothing sounds.

what mama wore // wellies >>>>

one thing about living in wales.... it rains. lots. summer. winter. autumn. spring. doesn't matter - it still rains! i learn the hard way, that the best thing to wear if you don't want wet feet is wellies. they're pretty much a staple, especially during the winter.

i came across joules a while back on beth's blog, so when they offered me a pair of wellies to test out i jumped at the chance. an hour {or two} later, i finally managed to pick a pair. there are so many cute ones, it was such a hard choice. i opted for these glossy purple ones. i loved the yellow floral trim {the lining is this too} i waited {im}patiently for them to arrive. and boy! i was so excited when they did. they arrived in a pretty floral bag, and a matching boot box! i've staked my claim to both though my girls all covet them.

they wellies themselves are beautiful {i never thought i'd say that about a pair of wellies} they are super comfy, and seem very hard wearing. they've had a couple of outings in the rain, and they kept my toes dry AND warm.

i'm already picking out my next pair of joules wellies. if you're after a pair i'd highly recommend these - they have so many too pick from and the quality is fabulous

pee.ess - excuse the photo of a poorly sick me.... i'm still not feeling great :(

wellies - c/o joules
tights - new look
dress- handmade
cardigan - primark

winter cure all >>>>

growing up, the first sign of a cold or flu, we got dosed up on hot honey and lemon drinks. they work wonders, especially if you through in a little ginger too {and whisky perhaps!}

the past couple winters i've kept a jar full of this cure all mix, ready and waiting in the fridge. a good spoonful in a mug of hot water is the perfect remedy when you're feeling ill. alternatively, a spoonful straight from the jar will soothe a sore throat or ease a cough.

peel and slice a 2" piece of root ginger, thinly slice a lemon, place in your empty jar and cover over with honey {i prefer raw}. it'll keep indefinitely in the fridge.

pee.ess- ally did a lovely feature on the curiosities in my home yesterday - go take a peek!
